The Build: One Way Camper

I worked on building out camper vans for a one way rental model startup. The business allowed travelers to pick up in one location and drop off in another, with pricing adjusted to balance demand across different routes.

Alongside some early market research and basic advertising, most of my time was spent on the physical build.

I started with an empty shell, stripping the interior back before rebuilding it from the ground up. This included insulation, framing, flooring, walls, and ceilings. From there, I installed the electrical systems, which involved wiring, solar panels, inverters, battery setups, lighting, and ventilation.

I handled the full build including beds, cabinets, storage, windows, and fans, along with basic plumbing like water tanks and pumps. Most of it involved figuring things out as I went, adjusting to materials, measurements, and problems that came up along the way.

The work was hands on and practical. Mistakes were visible, and fixing them was simply part of the process.

Working alone meant thinking through each step ahead of time and understanding how everything connected. Small decisions made early on made a significant difference later in the project.

It was straightforward: build it properly or deal with the consequences later.
